Grand Hotel Ampezzo, Cortina - Italy

In 2026, the outdoor spaces of the Grand Hotel Ampezzo in Cortina d’Ampezzo were completed with custom-made Sintered Stone planters. The project features 2CM (0.8") COLOSSEO Porfido Lavis and 2CM (0.8") FORTEZZA Snow Alps, crafted to create linear, angular and curved elements. The planters accompany pathways, terraces and seating areas, organising the vegetation without interrupting the visual continuity of the spaces.
Geometric compositions are arranged around evergreen shrubs, decorative white gravel and mineral surfaces. Some elements follow straight lines, while others create curved forms around the central areas.
The custom manufacturing process makes it possible to adapt each Sintered Stone slab precisely to the geometry of the project.
2CM (0.8") COLOSSEO Porfido Lavis introduces a textured surface inspired by natural Trentino porphyry. Its mineral character establishes a natural connection with the mountain setting of Cortina.
2CM (0.8") FORTEZZA Snow Alps is inspired by Beola Ghiandonata from the Italian Alps, creating a lighter mineral appearance that complements the surrounding architecture and vegetation.
The 2 cm (0.8") Sintered Stone planters thus become part of the exterior architecture of the Grand Hotel Ampezzo. They are not simply containers for plants, but architectural elements that define pathways and separate the different areas.
The result maintains a contemporary character while preserving a strong connection with the Alpine landscape. Mineral surfaces, vegetation and custom geometries create a coherent setting that reflects the identity of Cortina d’Ampezzo.
